The most common question I get when it comes to growing health, wellness, and even just living a better life, is:

“How do I do it?”

It’s simple – you’re only as strong as your roots.

You start by cultivating your Integrity

That means you have to stop lying to yourself. Until you can fess up and admit that YOU’RE the only one holding YOU back from achieving your goals… you’re going nowhere.

“But, Jon, isn’t that a fallacy? If the reason I fail is that I can’t stop lying, how can I ever admit that to myself?”

Because, deep down in our heart-of-hearts, we all know the truth – that you have to start somewhere.

The first root of wellness is Integrity.

Once you can consistently commit yourself to self-honesty, then you must open your mind.

This is achieved by training your Wisdom.

As you become more wise, you will better be able to discern the right things to do, at the right times, for the right reasons – so you’ll have no wasted effort.

“But you should just do what feels right for you!” – Don’t make the mistake of following this false doctrine.

Now that you are in touch with your integrity, you know that your heart too often lies, so instead wise up and get on the right path to achieving your goals.

The second root of wellness is Wisdom.

Now that you know the truth and have opened your mind, you need to master yourself.

To become a master of yourself, you must have Discipline.

Discipline is doing what you say you are going to do, when you say you are going to do it, and doing it to the best of your ability regardless of the circumstances.

“But if it’s too hard, maybe we’re better off just doing something else!”

On the contrary, nothing in this life worth having is going to come easy – you have to be disciplined and put in the work.

The third root of wellness is Discipline.

You’ve gotten honest, wised up, and mastered yourself – so what’s next?

You must exercise Perseverance.

This means that you need to keep pursuing your goals – doing the things that you know you need to do so that you can become the best version of yourself – overcoming all obstacles that get in your way no matter how difficult it may be.

“But isn’t it just easier to give up?”

Yes, it is. And it’s also easier to be stagnant in your wellness and to never accomplish anything you want in life – failing to live up to your God-given potential. Instead, push through and achieve the greatness inside of yourself.

The fourth root of wellness is Perseverance.

I can tell you everything I’ve learned about wellness in a single sentence:

Wellness is a Philosophy, it must be lived.

If you want to learn how to be healthy and increase your wellness, you need to stop thinking about it and start living it. Philosophers were principled people who believed so deeply in their values that they spent their entire lives trying to embody them. To live a healthy life you must first become a Wellness Philosopher and embody your wellness.

I have spent countless hours counseling people on their own health and wellness, and what has that taught me?

You must be fully invested.

In my time in clinical practice I have seen so many people continuously fail to achieve their wellness goals, be it weight-loss, lowering their blood pressure or cholesterol, controlling their diabetes or so on and so forth. Similarly, I have seen myself fail to achieve my own wellness goals. Do you know what I have found to be common among us? Not lack of knowledge, but lack of commitment, insight, and truthfulness with ourselves. But we can achieve our goals.

The only way to do this is to be fully invested.

By treating my wellness like a philosophy instead of a chore, I stopped living in that cycle of wellness failures and began to embody my wellness.

Now, let’s be honest – most of us know how to live a healthy life.

We’ve been sold on health products, super foods, supplements, fitness gear, and fad diets so many times before, all while our waistlines continue to grow, our blood pressures continue to rise, and we continue to fail to meet the numbers prescribed by our doctors.

Our doctors tell us to just lose weight, stop eating this, start eating that, start taking this medicine… but often they don’t have the time or desire to truly get down to the root of the problem.

The root is – nobody can help you live a healthier life. You have to help yourself.

The entire purpose for which I have created the Wellness Philosopher Method is to aid you in abandoning your old mindset of being a victim of your own life, and to instead empower you to grab hold of your roots, tame your health, and grow your wellness so that you will live a more abundant life, to the benefit of yourself and those around you.
